Senior Director, Climate, Energy and Impact Investment, and Head of Emerging Markets
Mark is a Senior Director (Climate, Energy & Impact Markets) and Head of Latin America, where he develops and oversees SecondMuse’s regional growth strategy for Latin America and the Pacific Northwest. With a focus on building climate, energy and impact markets, he supports initiatives through their entire lifecycle: research, design, launch, and implementation, and evaluation.
Mark is passionate about finding holistic, sustainable economic solutions that take into account a systems understanding of people, the governance that surrounds them, the planet they live on, and the markets that support them. With 25+ years of strategy development, stakeholder management, and fiscal oversight in emerging markets, he has an extensive track record building and leading large-scale partnerships that combine private sector investment/innovation, development programming, public sector coordination, and civil society participation.
As a former United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Senior Foreign Service Officer, Mark worked across the globe, including leading Power Africa--a US government-led partnership to bring first-time energy access to 350 million people in Sub-Saharan Africa and as Country Director in Brazil, with a focus on accelerating nature-based investments. In addition, Mark has led economic growth, energy and agriculture programs in Kenya, Ethiopia, Colombia, Afghanistan, and Pakistan.
