Jamal Seaforth

Jamal is a Senior Associate, Programs at SecondMuse, supporting the Community Management Workstream within the NASA Space Apps Challenge, an international hackathon where coders, scientists, designers, and storytellers across hundreds of cities use NASA's open data to tackle real-world problems on Earth and in space. Jamal engages a global community of over 400 stakeholders, facilitating workshops and trainings, coordinating communication across Slack and email, and building the systems, frameworks, and templates that keep a complex, globally distributed program running. His work centers on the relationships that turn a worldwide network of innovators into a thriving, connected community.

Jamal is passionate about scaling the systems and tools that let communities and organizations do their best work. His background spans enterprise change management and AI transformation, rolling out new technology to hundreds of staff, administering platforms for large user bases, and managing complex, multi-stakeholder and compliant portfolios. That experience taught him how to translate ambitious goals into the practical processes, communication, and structure that make them real. He brings that same operational rigor and people first mindset to SecondMuse, working to ensure that the communities at the heart of open innovation programs are supported, heard, and set up to create lasting impact.

Outside of work, Jamal can be found lifting weights at the gym or indulging his passion for aviation, plane spotting and flight simulation. He's a devoted DC sports fan and loves spending time out on the beach in South Florida.
